Managing Tabs

: Managing tabs refers to the way you can open, close or move between different tabs without using the mouse.

MANAGING TABS
PURPOSE KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS
OPEN NEW WINDOW/TAB
To open a new web browser window Ctrl + N
To open new tab in existing browser window Ctrl + T

 

SWITCHING BETWEEN DIFFERENT TABS
Switch to last tab in current window Ctrl + 9
Serial wise switch to tabs , from left to right (Tab1, Tab2…so on) Ctrl + 1( or any number up to 8)
Switch to next tab Ctrl +Tab (key)
Switch to previous tab Ctrl + Shift + Tab
TO CLOSE WINDOW/TAB
To close the browser window Alt + F4
To close the current tab Ctrl + W (or Ctrl + F4)
To reopen the last closed tab Ctrl + Shift + T

 

Zooming

To get a close-up view of your browser window or zoom out to see more of the web page at a reduced size.

Scrolling

If your webpage is very long, it may not be easy to press the arrow keys to move up or down the webpage. Instead, use the following shortcuts.

To go to top of the webpage Home (key)
To go to bottom of the webpage End (key)
To scroll down one page frame Spacebar (key) (or PageDown)

To go back Alt + (Backspace or Left Arrow)

To go to address bar and start typing F6 or (Ctrl + L) or (Alt + D)
To prefix www. and append .com to the text in the address bar and then load the website. For example, type Google into the address bar and press Ctrl+Enter to open www.google.com. Ctrl + Enter
To open the location in the address bar in a new tab. Alt + Enter

 

History

When we navigate websites whatever webpage you navigate get stored in your browser’s browsing history. To check your browsing history or clear browsing history just uses the following key combination.

To open browser history Ctrl + H
Open the download history Ctrl + J
Open the clear browsing history dialog box. Ctrl + Shift + Del

To save the web page Ctrl + S
To print the webpage Ctrl + P
To bookmark the opened website Ctrl + D
To view the source of webpage Ctrl + U
To open a file from your computer Ctrl + O

 

In most of the cases when any key pressed with shift key will perform the opposite operation like F3 key will search next occurrence and shift+F3 will search the previous occurrence.
